Since it's inception, Comart has been at the forefront of prepress innovation and leadership. We've been the first to introduce several key technologies, industry standards and processes in the Indian graphics arts market.

Presented below are key milestones in our 72 year history.

1934: Comart is founded as Commercial Art Engravers.

1969: India’s first klischograph, a forerunner of the modern day scanner, is installed.

1979: India’s first electronic scanning machine finds home at Comart’s Mumbai facility.

1989: Comart ushers in the DTP era, with one of the first systems in the world to have connectivity with an open Macintosh platform.

1992: First to use the Inkjet proofing system.
India’s first flatbed scanner is installed.

1993: Setup the largest prepress facility in the Middle East on a turnkey basis.

1995: Begins Bangalore operation to cater to the growing South Indian market

1996: Established India's first full fledged digital photography studio. First ISDN link between O&M, JWT and Comart established to enable digital 
file transfers and facilitate online approval.

1998: Launched a first – of – its kind color management system using industry standard ICC profiling.

1999: Began offering 3-D visualization & prototyping to deliver visual 
impetus to Packaging, Merchandizing and Retail Architecture.

2000: Ushered in millennium standards of color management with the Gretag Macbeth system.

2003: Entered the outdoor print market with the installation of a 2- meter solvent outdoor printer

2005: launched its 24x7 global offshore operation offering packaging premedia services for a UK based packaging major. Introduces 
Digital Asset Management Services for clients - a first-of-its-kind initiative.

2006: Introduces certified color proofing to raise the bar in color management. Installed its third printer for outdoor at Bangalore – a 3 meter , 8 color solvent printer which is among the biggest of its kind in India.
